tibits is a 100% Vegetarian restaurant and bar. You can eat in or take away. It’s located on Heddon Street, just off of Regents Street in London, where the cover photo from David Bowies infamous Ziggy Stardust album was taken.
Around 80% of the dishes are Vegan and all items are clearly labelled V for Vegan and GF for gluten free. There is something for everyone at tibits, making it the perfect place to take a group of friends for a great night out.
They do breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, tea, coffee, cakes and evening drinks. The cocktails are especially good. The Moscow Mule is my favourite, which is made up of vodka, fresh ginger, crushed lime and soda water – refreshing with a ginger kick.
You pay for the food you take by weight. You take a plate and serve yourself from the food boat. There are salads, hot dishes, sides, sauces and toppings. You also get a free bread. Just pop it on your plate (they’ll ask you to take it off while they weigh it). If you have room for dessert go up again and same principle applies. I love the chocolate mouse and sticky toffee pudding. Yummy!
The food boat is always full of freshly made seasonal dishes. The cold food is kept on ice and the hot is on the top of the food boat which is kept heated. When a dish is near being empty, the co-ordinator radios the kitchen where they’re constantly making more, and then when it is finished they replace it, so you don’t have to hang around waiting for the dish you want.
The atmosphere at tibits is relaxed and you can easily forget you are just moments away from the hustle and bustle of Piccadilly Circus. The staff are really lovely and they treat you like friends.
The restaurant has just recently been re-decorated. I liked how it looked before but the new look is refreshing, which is exactly what tibits is all about. The downstairs area of the restaurant is perfect for groups of friends, family and colleagues for celebrations and gatherings.
My sister, who is not vegetarian, absolutely loves tibits. It’s a credit to a vegetarian restaurant when a meat eater enjoys the food and hasn’t missed the meat. The dishes taste amazing and are nutritious, so you don’t leave feeling hungry. tibits gets the balance just right.
I have tried many new things since visiting such as foods I didn’t know I liked, and fruits and vegetables I had never known what to do with. It has certainly opened my mind up!
I’ve recently got tibits first book – tibits at home (review coming soon). I was so excited to try making some of the dishes I have gone back for time and time again.
You don’t need to book a table at tibits but you can make reservations for groups of 8 or more, they are open:
(food is served up until half an hour before closing, so there’s no food wasted at the end of the night, so going late will mean the choice of food may be reduced.)
